MBAA Board Meeting Summaries

President

The President will serve as the chief executive officer of the Association. This officer is responsible for presiding over (and preparing the agenda for) all Association meetings; prompt and orderly implementation of all Board initiatives; reporting to the Board and recommending certain actions for Board consideration; and overseeing the financial accounts of the MBAA. The MBAA President will act as a liaison to the Dean and Associate Dean of the GWSB and to other student leaders within the University. He/she will also work with other student groups and University departments to further the MBAA mission.
Executive Vice-President

Executive Vice-President

The Executive Vice-President will assist the President in the execution of his/her required duties, including helping to convene meetings, keep meeting minutes, and oversight of the MBAA financial accounts/records. This officer will also hold one of two seats for GWU on the DC Capital MBA Coalition (CMC) and report to the MBAA regarding the status of CMC special projects and suggestions for improvement in the quality of student life.

Treasurer

The Treasurer of the MBA Association is responsible for the proper maintenance of all of the Association’s financial accounts, as well as the development of all financial reports, including the annual statement of accounts. Additionally, the Treasurer is responsible for managing all financial obligations of the MBAA. This officer will act as the liaison with the GW Student Association (SA) finance committee and Vice President of Financial Affairs, report funds from SA, and audit and reconcile all MBAA accounts.

Vice President, International Students

The Vice President of International Students is responsible for forging a bond with the international student body and acting as a liaison between the MBAA and the international community. This officer will support the program staff in international student recruitment and integration, in concert with the VP of Recruitment), and coordinate international student orientation with the International Students Office (ISO), in concert with the Career Center and VP of Career Development.

VP of Social Responsibility

The Vice President of Social Responsibility will represent the Global MBA program in all matters of social and environmental responsibility and sustainability. Specifically, this individual will be responsible for implementing and facilitating community service and socially responsible initiatives, as well as coordinating sustainable business school-related activities. Other responsibilities include working with the School of Business, general administration, and the Sustainability Task Force to create new and innovative ways to further the School’s sustainable business achievements in concert with the new Global MBA curriculum.

VP of Recruitment

The Vice President of Recruitment will serve as a liaison to the GW MBA Office of Admissions and act as a student representative in the recruitment of qualified candidates across all MBA programs. Responsibilities include attending admissions fairs, information sessions, and on-campus visit days. Additionally, this individual will assist Admissions by providing a student perspective on candidate selection. This officer of the MBAA will focus on prospective students who have a strong record of academic and professional accomplishment, as well as those who share the program’s global perspective and values of ethics and leadership.

VP of Career Development

The Vice President of Career Development will serve as a liaison to the F. David Fowler Career Center and School of Business alumni network on behalf of the MBAA. Responsibilities will include weekly meetings with Career Center staff to discuss employment and recruitment opportunities for MBAs, regular communication with the alumni network to facilitate student/alumni relationships, and the creation of workshops to further develop the professional skill sets of current students.

VP of Events

The Vice President of Events is responsible for the coordination of all professional and social functions on behalf of the MBAA and, as needed, in coordination with the GWSB Office of Special Events. Activities will include Informal Public Outings (IPOs) as well as working with MBAA board members to plan fundraising, CSR, career, alumni, and international events, among others. The VP of Events will manage all planning/scheduling and event logistics. This individual will be responsible for working across the MBAA board to ensure all MBAA programs are well organized and executed.

VP of Marketing & Communications

The Vice President of Marketing & Communications is responsible for all formal communications distributed on behalf of the MBAA. This individual will develop appropriate messaging for all MBAA events and initiatives, draft all formal MBAA communications (oral and written), provide strategic communications counsel to the MBAA Board, and compile and distribute all Monday Mail. Additionally, this individual will market MBAA programs to target audiences within the GW Network and to area press, as appropriate

PMBA Representative

The PMBA representative serves to keep the MBA Association Board up to date on all requests and concerns of the Professional MBA students. The PMBA representative attends weekly MBAA weekly meetings and also assists in the planning of MBAA events. The PMBA representative is an integral part of the MBAA. The representative works to understand the concerns of PMBAs and how best to create, include and integrate activities for the PMBA student body. MBAA Officers work with the PMBA representative on specific area issues and requests to ensure the entire community’s needs are met.

AMBA Representative

The Accelerated Program Representative serves to keep the MBA Association officers up to date on all requests and concerns of the Accelerated MBA students. The AMBA representative attends weekly MBAA weekly meetings and also assist in the planning of MBAA events. The AMBA representative is an integral part of the MBAA and help the officers understand the concerns of AMBAs and how best to create, include and integrate activities for the AMBA student body. MBAA Officers work with the AMBA representative on specific area issues and requests to ensure the entire community’s needs are met.
